On retina displays there’s simply no reason not to use any font you want. All fonts render nicely on retina displays.
If you want to see the future of software UI design, look to the history of print design.
And in case you missed it, John was a guest on The Big Web Show last week. He talked about typesetting as an enjoyable mental puzzle, and waxed nostalgic about Quark Express (I loved it, too – Quark is where I learned to typeset).
